eva’s table

2010 March 3

Winter has started to fade and today I saw a glimpse of Spring!!  Of course I was excited to get out and spend some time in the warm sun and thought it would be a prefect day to spend refurnishing my grandmother’s antique table.  Making “old” into “new”!! My goal was to keep the integrity of the table and it’s uniqueness, so I decided that a creamy white paint with roughed edges would be perfect.  I can’t tell you how excited I am that it turned out just the way I pictured.  This table being so special, I was a bit nervous to start laying on the paint!  But so happy I did….”wax on, wax off”….

After painting all the nooks and crannies, which is what took me most of my time, I let it sit in the warm sun and dry.  (I enjoyed some sun-time myself too!!)  It being so dry here in Colorado, it didn’t take very long before I was able to start sanding away!

Family heirlooms hold a special place in my heart, so I am elated to add this to my personal collection of my grandmother’s furniture.  To know that this table has been a part of my grandma’s home, mother’s home, and now mine, makes me proud.  One day,  I hope to hand this down to be a part of making unique my child’s home.

Try it!  Take something “old” and make it “new”!

Your dad had quite a story to tell me about this table during lunch at Chuck’s Doghouse! :) I love hearing the stories he has to share about his children- who is so very proud of!

Well done, Jamie. It’s a perfect way to keep the memory or your gramma alive.
And I really like how that embossed wedding picture turned out. Your mom told me about it, but I hadn’t seen it until now.
